Why Did He Come? -Pastor Clark
Christmas is a time for sharing stories! Think about it. We tell others about the Christmas light display we saw. We tell our friends living down south how much snow we got. We each share what we received for Christmas. We get caught up with relatives we haven’t seen for awhile by sharing what’s been going on in each of our lives. Hopefully, we find ourselves sharing the Christmas story with our families, friends, and neighbors as well. Yes, Christmas is a time for sharing with others what we have seen or experienced.
When Jesus was standing before Pontius Pilate on the day of His crucifixion, Pilate asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus replied with these words, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” Why did Jesus come into this world as a little baby on Christmas? It was to “testify to the truth.” In other words, He came to share the truth about God, about His love, and about His plan for salvation. These are all things that Jesus had seen, heard, and experienced for millions and millions of years in His perfect relationship with the Father. We’ve been going through our sermon series “Thy Word is Truth.” This Advent and Christmas time, let’s take time to listen to Jesus share the truth with us. And then let’s look for opportunities to share that truth with others.
God’s Word bless you,
Pastor Clark
